Harris — AI SEO Content Audit Privacy Policy & FAQ

Privacy Policy

How Harris collects, uses, and protects data when you connect your Shopify store and an external shopping feed account.

Overview

Harris is a Shopify app that scans your product catalog, flags issues that block your shopping feed listings, and suggests fixes for titles, descriptions, categories, and other feed attributes. This policy explains what data the app touches to do that, and nothing more.

Harris is built for merchants, not shoppers — this policy covers the store owners, staff, and agency operators who use the app, not your customers' checkout data.

Data we collect

We request only the access needed to scan and fix your feed. Depending on the permissions you grant during install, this can include:

CategoryWhat's included
Store & accountShop name, domain, plan, and the email of the account that installed the app
Products & variantsTitles, descriptions, images, SKUs, barcodes/GTIN, product type, category, price, and availability
InventoryStock status and location-level availability, where relevant to feed accuracy
Shopping feedFeed diagnostics and disapproval reasons, if you connect an external shopping feed account
UsageWhich scans you run, which suggestions you approve or revert, and basic app performance logs

We do not collect customer names, shipping addresses, payment details, or order history. Harris has no reason to read that data and does not request it.

How we use it

  • Scan product fields and assign an issue severity, so you see what's broken and why
  • Generate a feed readiness score and surface it on your dashboard
  • Read shopping feed diagnostics to explain disapprovals in plain language
  • Generate suggested edits to titles, descriptions, and category mappings
  • Apply the specific field changes you approve, and keep a record so changes can be reverted
  • Send you alerts when new critical issues appear, if you've enabled monitoring
  • Diagnose bugs, measure app performance, and improve scan accuracy over time

We do not use your product data to train models shared across unrelated third parties, and we do not sell product or account data.

AI suggestions

Fix suggestions are generated by sending the relevant product fields — for example, a title, description, and category — to an AI model provider under a processing agreement. Only the fields needed to produce a suggestion are sent; full store or customer data is never included in that request.

Suggestions are never applied automatically. Every AI-generated fix sits in a review queue until you approve it, individually or in bulk, and every approved change can be rolled back.

Sharing data

We share data only where it's required to run the app:

  • Shopify — to read and write the product fields you ask us to fix
  • Shopping feed platform — to read feed status and, where you enable it, push corrected fields
  • AI model provider — to generate fix suggestions, as described above
  • Infrastructure and analytics providers — to host the app and diagnose errors, under contracts that restrict them from using your data for their own purposes

We disclose data beyond this list only if required by law, or with your explicit consent.

Retention

We retain product and scan data for as long as your app subscription is active, so your issue history and readiness score stay accurate. Change logs used for rollback are kept for 90 days. If you uninstall the app, see Uninstalling below.

Security

Data in transit is encrypted with TLS. Access to production data is limited to staff who need it to operate or support the app, and API credentials are stored encrypted at rest. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security, but we work to keep these protections current.

Your rights

Depending on where your business is located, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the data we hold about your store, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these, contact us using the details below — we'll respond within the time required by applicable law (for example, GDPR or CCPA).

Uninstalling the app

When you uninstall Harris, we stop scanning your store and revoke our API access automatically. We delete your product, scan, and account data within 30 days, except where we're required to retain records for legal, tax, or dispute-resolution purposes.

Children's privacy

Harris is a business tool for merchants and is not directed at children. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, notify you by email or in-app notice before they take effect.

Frequently asked questions

What Harris does, how it touches your store, and what happens to your shopping feed listings along the way.

The basics

What does Harris actually do?

It connects to your Shopify catalog and, optionally, an external shopping feed account, scans every product for the issues that cause disapprovals or weak feed performance — things like a missing GTIN, a vague title, or the wrong product category — and shows you a prioritized list with a plain-English explanation of each one.

For most issues it also generates a suggested fix, which you review and approve before anything changes in your store.

Who is this for?

Shopify merchants running shopping feed or paid listing campaigns, typically with 50 to 10,000 SKUs and no dedicated feed specialist on staff. If you're managing your product feed by hand in a spreadsheet, or you keep getting disapprovals you don't have time to decode, this is built for you.

Do I need to connect an external shopping feed account?

You can scan and fix product-level issues in your Shopify catalog without one. Connecting your shopping feed account adds a second layer: it lets Harris read your actual disapproval reasons and feed diagnostics directly from the source, so the explanations map to what's really being flagged, not just what looks risky in your product data.

Will this replace my sales channel app?

No — you'll likely keep your existing sales channel app to manage the feed connection and ad campaigns themselves. Harris works alongside it, focused specifically on diagnosing and fixing the product data quality issues that cause those campaigns to underperform or get flagged.

Scanning & fixes

What does a scan check?

Each scan looks at title, description, SKU, barcode/GTIN, images, availability, and category mapping across every product and variant, then assigns a severity to anything that's missing, malformed, or likely to trigger a listing policy issue.

Does Harris change my store automatically?

No. AI-generated suggestions sit in a review queue. You can approve them one at a time or in bulk after filtering by issue type, but nothing is written back to your product data without your approval.

Can I undo a change once I've approved it?

Yes. Every applied fix is logged, and you can revert individual field changes or a whole bulk-apply batch from the change history. Rollback is available on the Growth and Pro plans.

How accurate are the AI-suggested titles and descriptions?

Suggestions are generated from your existing product data plus standard shopping feed category and attribute requirements, so they're grounded in what you already sell rather than invented. That said, treat them as a strong first draft: review anything unusual before approving it, especially for products with ambiguous or highly technical details.

What's the feed readiness score?

A single number summarizing what share of your catalog is free of critical and warning-level issues, so you can track progress over time and see at a glance whether a recent change helped or hurt.

Data & safety

What store data does Harris access?

Product and variant fields relevant to your feed — titles, descriptions, images, SKUs, barcodes, category, price, and availability — plus basic shop and account information. It never requests customer data such as names, addresses, or order history.

Is my product data used to train AI models?

No. Product fields are sent to our AI provider only to generate the specific suggestion you're viewing, under a processing agreement that excludes using your data to train shared models. Full details are in the Privacy Policy above.

What happens to my data if I uninstall?

API access is revoked immediately, and your product, scan, and account data is deleted within 30 days, aside from anything we're legally required to retain.

Plans & billing

What's the difference between the plans?
  • Starter ($19/mo) — up to 250 products, monthly scans, feed score and issue list
  • Growth ($49/mo) — up to 2,000 products, weekly scans, bulk apply, rollback, and alerts
  • Pro ($99/mo) — up to 10,000 products, daily scans, custom labels, and priority support
What happens if my catalog grows past my plan's product limit?

Scans keep running on the products already covered, and you'll see a prompt to upgrade so the rest of your catalog gets included. Nothing is paused or removed without warning.

Can I switch or cancel plans anytime?

Yes, from the app's billing screen inside Shopify. Changes take effect at the start of your next billing cycle, in line with Shopify's standard app billing terms.
